What Is Finasteride?
Finasteride is a prescription medication used to treat men with male pattern hair loss to increase hair growth on the scalp and to prevent further hair loss. It typically comes in a 1 mg daily dose for a 30-day supply.
How Does Finasteride Work?
Finasteride lowers the levels of a male hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which causes hair loss. Men with hair loss have more DHT in the balding part of their scalp, and finasteride helps to reverse the balding process.

Who Can & Can't Take Finasteride?
Finasteride is used for adult men only and should not be used by women or children.

How To Take Finasteride?
Finasteride can be taken with or without food
If you forget to take your daily dose of finasteride, do not take an extra tablet the next day. Just take the following tablet as usual.
Finasteride will not work faster or better if you take it more than once a day.
What Are The Side Effects?
Finasteride has been approved for hair loss since 1998 with relatively few side effects.
Less than 2% of men may experience the following [1]:
- Decrease in sex drive
- Trouble getting or keeping an erection
- Decrease in the amount of semen.
Please note: Sexual side effects if experienced are in the majority of cases reversed when the drug is withdrawn

How Effective is Finasteride?
Finasteride has been shown to be effective at preventing hair loss and even regrowing hair in some men. In one study, finasteride was effective at preventing further hair loss in 83% balding at the crown of the head, and 70% of men with hairline recession.
