WHY VITAMIN D FOR IMMUNITY?
Vitamin D is mainly produced in the skin when it is exposed to the ultraviolet (UV) B rays of the sun. But despite Singapore's reputation as a "sunny island", many here are deficient in this vitamin. According to a 2017* study, almost 8 out of 10 Singaporeans suffer from inadequate Vitamin D levels, and most may not even be aware of the risks. Further research** into Vitamin D deficiency has recently suggested that this condition may be associated with a higher risk of catching COVID-19. Conversely, emerging evidence shows that healthy Vitamin D levels is critical for immune function, energy, as well as bone and muscle strength.
