Make sure to register your kit at zesttee.com/kit before you proceed.
Step 1
Unpack your box, and confirm you are collecting saliva at the specified time(s) found in the instructions. Ensure that you have not eaten, drank, smoked, brushed your teeth, or chewed gum for at least 30 minutes before collecting your saliva sample.
Step 2
Make sure to complete the test requisition form and sign it. Without your signature, we cannot perform the testing.
Step 3
Fill out your collection tube label with your name, collection date, and collection time, otherwise your saliva sample may not get processed. Make sure the label is put on your saliva tube!
Step 4
Twist the cap off of the tube, and spit into the tube until your saliva fills at least to the 4 mL mark of the tube (not including bubbles). Then, twist on the cap tightly to prevent any leakage.
Step 5
Place the saliva tube in the biohazard bag, seal it, and put inside the freezer until you are ready to mail.
Step 6
Place your sample into the biohazard bag and then into the green smartpac, and seal it. Make sure to write your address. Drop it off at any post box.
Guidelines for Men and Women (ON HORMONES)
Topical Hormones (Cream or Gel)
Do not apply any topical hormones throughout the day of saliva collection. Collect saliva 12-24 hours after the last dose.
Sublingual Hormones or Troches
Do not use any sublingual (dissolved under tongue) hormones throughout the day of saliva collection. Collect saliva 12-24 hours after the last dose.
Oral Hormones (Pills)
If taking Progesterone: Collect saliva 6-10 hours after the last dose. For all other hormones: Collect saliva 12-24 hours after the last dose.
Injections and Pellets
The recommended collection interval is mid regimen.
Transdermal Patches
Collect saliva 1-2 days after applying the patch.
Cortisol Supplementation
Consult with your Provider for instructions if you are taking cortisol supplementation for adrenal support. When testing cortisol (for baseline adrenal function), stop using cortisol-containing products 5 days prior to saliva collection.
Guidelines for Men and Women (NOT ON HORMONE TREATMENT)
Women with Regular Menstrual Cycles
It is recommended (although not mandatory) to collect saliva between day 19-21 of your cycle, by counting the first day of your period as day 1.
Women with Irregular Menstrual Cycles
Collect saliva when not bleeding.
Post-Menopausal Women OR Women Who Had a Hysterectomy
Collect saliva any day of the month.
Men not on Hormone Supplements
Collect saliva any day of the month.
Do's & Don'ts
DO’S
- Only open the bag when you are ready to collect a sample.
- Only withdraw one tube when you are about to collect saliva.
- After collecting the sample, immediately complete the information on the collection tube label and store the sample in the freezer.
DON’TS
- Do NOT drink alcoholic beverages on the day you collect your samples.
- Do NOT smoke or use tobacco, drink anything, or brush your teeth 30 minutes before sample collection.
- Do NOT consume dairy products, acidic or sugary foods within 30 minutes of sample collection.
- Do NOT eat a meal within 60 minutes before you collect any sample.
Complete Paperwork
Write your name, collection date, and time in the space provided on the collection tube label. Complete the test requisition form and sign it. We cannot perform the testing without your signature.
Return
Place your sample back into the smartpac and drop it off at any post box for it to be shipped back to us.
