Sperm Test Kit Instructions

Before You Begin

Before collecting your semen sample, wait at least 48 hours, but no more than seven (7) days after your last ejaculation. Use manual stimulation (masturbation) to obtain your semen sample. Do not use any lubricants.

Step 1

Ejaculate directly and completely into the semen collection cup.

Step 2

Once you have collected the semen sample, let the Sample Collection Cup stand upright on a flat surface for at least twenty (20) minutes, but no more than three (3) hours.

Step 3

After 20 minutes has passed, mix the sperm with 10 rotations in the sample collection cup using the sample transfer tool.

Step 4

To draw up the semen sample, pull the plunger of the sample transfer tool. Make sure to only go up to the black line indicated on the sample transfer tool to avoid air pockets and thick lumps. If any of this occurs, depress the plunger and repeat the process.

Step 5

Uncap the sperm solution bottle, making sure to remove both the transparent cap and the white dropping cap.

Step 6

Slowly release the collected sample within the sample transfer tool into the sperm solution bottle. Close the sperm solution bottle with the white dropping cap and the transparent cap. Tighten it.

Step 7

Slowly mix the semen sample by inverting the sperm solution bottle 10 times. After mixing, let rest for 2 minutes.

Step 8

After 2 minutes, remove the transparent cap, leaving the white cap on, and and gently put 3 drops of the mix solution into the well of the sperm test kit. Results will show rapidly.

Step 9

After you have added three (3) drops of the solution into the sample well, begin timing for five (5) to ten (10) minutes. Once the five (5) to ten (10) minutes are up, read the results (look below to understand interpretation).

How to Interpret Results

Negative: NO TEST LINE PRESENT at Test region (T) and only a pink colored line appears at the Control region (C). This means your sperm concentration is below 15 million sperm per millilitre. At or below that sperm concentration there is a possibility of infertility, according to World Health Organization (WHO).

Positive:  TEST LINE PRESENT at Test region (T) and a pink coloured line appears at the Control region (C). This means your sperm concentration is at least 15 million sperm per millilitre. At or above that sperm concentration indicates the possibility of fertility, according to World Health Organization (WHO).

Invalid: Repeat the process with another sperm test kit.
