Minoxidil is a medication that can be applied topically to increase the size of hair follicles and enhance hair growth. It has been shown to improve hair loss in 70% of men.
Minoxidil is a spray/medication lotion for enhancing hair growth. It helps to prevent/stop hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) and is also used for other hair loss conditions.
Minoxidil 5% should be applied to the scalp twice a day to increase the size of hair follicles. It is not used for baldness at the front of the scalp or receding hairline in men.
We recommend pairing minoxidil with finasteride tablets for great results.
Most adult men can use minoxidil to combat hair loss. However, minoxidil is not intended for use in:
- Women
- Men that want to just treat a receding hairline or balding at the front of their scalp
- Individuals younger than 18
Note: Elderly individuals who use minoxidil may experience increased sensitivity to cold temperatures.
1. Do not wash your hair before applying minoxidil. Your hair and scalp must be completely dry before applying minoxidil.
2. Apply 7 sprays (1 mL) of Regro two times a day, preferable morning and night, to the affected areas of the scalp.
3. Massage your scalp gently with your fingertips after each spray.
*Do NOT exceed two doses (14 sprays or 2 mL) per day.
4. Wash your hands after using topical minoxidil.
5. Only apply minoxidil on the scalp. Do NOT use it on any other part of your body.
The most common side effects associated with minoxidil topical solution 5% are skin irritation and itching of the scalp where medication is applied. Systemic side effects are rare as less than 2% of it gets absorbed.
Contact your doctor or practitioner if you experience more severe side effects.
Topical minoxidil is one of only two FDA-approved treatments for hair loss. In a one-year study, minoxidil 5% solution showed that 62% of men had no increased hair loss. Even better, about 16% of men had significant hair regrowth and approximately 48% had moderate hair regrowth.
Note: If you are a hair loss type 5 (IV) or beyond on the Norwood Hamilton Hair Loss Scale then minoxidil may not be effective for you. Click HERE to read more about the scale.
